  • Charter School Statewide Assessment Deadline

    The NCHEP Annual Statewide Assessment is collected from LEAs every other year to gain a better understanding of the needs and for planning and reporting to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The deadline to submit the Statewide Assessment is June 15, 2025. 

  • Homeless Data Submission Deadline

    Homeless liaisons are responsible for the collection of accurate homeless education data on students identified within their Local Education Agency (LEA). The deadline to submit this data is June 15, 2026.  

  • End-of-Year (EOY) Report Deadline 

    Traditional

    The US Department of Education requires state agencies to oversee and monitor LEAs that are recipients of federal funding. Recipients of the 2023-2026SY McKinney-Vento subgrant, you are required to complete an End-of-Year (EOY) Report on the activities performed with the funding for the 2025-2026SY. The deadline to submit the EOY Report is June 30, 2026.

  • New Homeless Liaison Training for LEAs

    University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG) Elliott University Center (EUC) 507 Stirling St., Greensboro, North Carolina

    Homeless liaisons with two years or less experience are required to attend this training. This professional development session is designed to build knowledge and capacity in alignment with the provisions of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.  

  • New Homeless Liaison Training for Charters

    The North Carolina Homeless Education Program (NCHEP) will be hosting the New Homeless Liaison Training for North Carolina’s charter and lab schools on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Homeless liaisons with two years or less of experience should attend this required training. 

  • Western Required Subgrant Recipient Meeting

    Henderson County Public Schools - Historic Johnson Farm 3364 Haywood Rd, Hendersonville

    Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) are accountable for implementing the projects outlined in their subgrant application. All 2026–2029SY McKinney-Vento Subgrant recipients—as well as 2023–2026SY recipients with remaining funds—must attend their regional beginning-of-the-year meeting.

  • New Homeless Liaison Virtual Office Hour

    NCHEP is offering monthly virtual “office hours” for new homeless liaisons every third Thursday. These optional sessions are designed to deepen your understanding of the homeless liaison role and provide practical support from our office.   • Western Regional Compliance Forum

    Henderson County Public Schools - Historic Johnson Farm 3364 Haywood Rd, Hendersonville

    All designated homeless liaisons are required to attend a Regional Compliance Forum annually.
